T.J. Yeldon
T.J. Yeldon‘s presence on the Bills last season served one purpose; an emergency backup to the Bills’ other two running backs in Devin Singletary and Frank Gore.
Yeldon rarely saw the field of play in 2019, rushing for 63 yards on 17 attempts. It is likely that Yeldon could serve a purpose with the team this year in a similar backup role and could serve as a knowledgable veteran in the fairly young stable of Bills running backs.
Yeldon is 26 years old and is one of the oldest running backs on the Bills roster (second only to the 30 year old Taiwan Jones). He is currently entering in to his sixth year in his NFL career, one where he has rushed for only 1,804 yards total. Meanwhile starter Devin Singletary is only 22 and accumulated 775 yards rushing while missing significant time with injury. Add in promising 2020 draftee Zach Moss out of Utah and the Buffalo Bills could have one of the deadliest backfields in the NFL this season.
Unfortunately, T.J. Yeldon will likely not see much of that backfield as he has yet to live up to his college glory days at Alabama.
At only 26, Yeldon probably still has some good years left in him and could find a role on special teams with either the Bills or another team in 2021 as he is entering the final year of his contract in 2020.
