Buffalo Bills News: Team announces the addition of eight UDFAs

The Buffalo Bills on Friday announced they have come to terms with eight undrafted free agents.

While the NFL Draft is over, this doesn’t mean that the Buffalo Bills have stopped trying to add more talent to an already deep roster. On Friday, the team announced they have agreed to terms with eight undrafted free agents.

This group includes three offensive linemen including tackle Trey Adams from the University of Washington, tackle Brandon Walton from Florida Atlantic University and guard Marquel Harrell from Auburn.

They also added two players to their backfield in running back Antonio Williams from the University of North Carolina and fullback Reggie Gilliam from Toledo.

The remaining three players are in the secondary with Ike Brown, a cornerback from Florida International University and two safeties in Garrett Taylor from Penn State and Josh Thomas from Appalachian State.

The depth the Buffalo Bills have is going to create a major uphill battle for any of these players to make the 53-man roster but of this group the two safeties are the most intriguing

Taylor and Thomas are both big safeties, standing at 6’0″ with Taylor weighing 203 pounds and Thomas at 205 pounds. The reason they could find a way onto the roster is the Bills under Sean McDermott like to utilize a big nickel, which is also called the Buffalo Nickel.

He was asked about this recently and mentioned this was a role that Dean Marlowe and Siran Neal have played in the past but this is a role that “remains to be seen” about who will fill it. There is a real chance for a player like Taylor or Thomas to fill a need that is left on this defense and at the very least warrant a backup spot on the roster.

Another player who could find a spot on this roster is offensive tackle Trey Adams. He was considered one of the top tackles at one point during college, as Lance Zierlein notes in his scouting report, however injuries caused his draft stock to take a major hit. If he is able to prove he is healthy leading up to the 2020 season, he may earn himself a spot as one of the final offensive linemen on this roster.
