San Francisco 49ers
The defending NFC champs will have a chip on their shoulder watching the Super Bowl slip out of their hands thanks to the Kansas City Chiefs. The 49ers defensive line lost DeForest Buckner in a trade to the Colts but got a steal in the draft nabbing Javon Kinlaw. An instant starter to replace the aforementioned Buckner will be a headache for any QB. Now you team him up with Nick Bosa, Arik Amsted, and Solomon Thomas. Josh Allen better have his head on a swivel.
Kyle Shanahan was very creative with his play calling last season and Deebo Samuel had a lot to do with that by running all over the field, especially with end arounds and creating frustration for opposing defenses. With the departure of Emmanuel Sanders, they had to find a replacement and they found that in drafting Brandon Aiyuk out of Arizona State. He is an amazing playmaker that can get chunk yards after the catch and will be a pillar of the 49ers offence for years to come.
Here you will have two top ten defenses from last season squaring off in the Bay area which will be a great matchup. When you look at the stats, this game has the makings of a “gritty, in your face” kind of a game that is reminiscent of the Steelers-Ravens rivalry during the playing days of Ray Lewis and Troy Polamalu. It is going to be interesting to see how Leslie Frazier will disguise his defense and try to force Jimmy Garoppolo into making mistakes where Tre’Davious White and the secondary can take advantage.
