The Buffalo Bills schedule will be released later today but rumors are beginning to swirl, including the team opening the 2020 season against the New York Jets.

The Buffalo Bills have known for awhile now the teams they would be playing this season but later today they will find in what order. The order is almost as important as the teams they play and according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Bills will open the 2020 season at home against the New York Jets.

If this is true, this would be the third time in the last four years that the Bills will open the season against the New York Jets. It is also the first time since 2017 the Bills wouldn’t have to travel Week 1, and that game was also against the Jets. The Buffalo Bills have won each game to open the season against the New York Jets over that stretch.

The reports by Mehta is contradictory to some of the rumors being discussed yesterday by some insiders, including John Clayton, that the 2020 season would start with teams facing non-conference opponents. This would have meant the Bills would be facing teams from the NFC West to start.

If the Bills do face the Jets the first week of the season, there is no question that this will be a big game that could have major implications by the end of the year. The AFC East looks as wide open as it has in decades with Tom Brady no longer on the New England Patriots.

Every team in the division is entering this year with aspirations of winning the division and divisional records play a major role in deciding that. The Buffalo Bills look like the best team on paper and will need to prove it right from the start.
