Quarterback (3)

Josh Allen, Matt Barkley, Jake Fromm
While the Buffalo Bills did draft Jake Fromm in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft and he could potentially be the team’s backup this year, the Bills would be smart to keep Matt Barkley on the roster.

The Bills are young at the position with Josh Allen only entering his third year in the league and they could use a veteran voice in that position room. The coaching staff also has to take into account that Allen does open himself up to more potential injuries due to his playing style.

This coaching staff also remembers all to well the last time the team used a fifth round pick as a backup, when they had Nathan Peterman starting games for this team. While Fromm and Peterman are very different in terms of prospect, the Bills can’t afford to put all their playoff hopes on a rookie if the need were to arise.
