Tight End

Dawson Knox’s rookie season looked promising at times. The tight end seemingly always made impossible catches and continuously ran through defenders like a bulldozer. His rookie season is even more impressive considering the fact that Knox only recorded 39 receptions during his college career at Ole Miss.

In his rookie season, Knox had 28 receptions for 388 yards and two touchdowns. It was a solid rookie campaign that Knox could build upon in the future. Behind Knox on the depth chart, things get a bit unclear.

Tyler Kroft was brought in during the 2019 free agency period and it was assumed he would be the starter at tight end. Yet injuries plagued Kroft for the majority of the season and he was never able to become a major contributing factor to the Bills’ offense. If the injury issues persist this offseason, he could be cut before the start of the 2020 season.

Tommy Sweeney was another rookie tight end out of Boston College. Sweeney totaled 114 receiving yards on eight receptions. The fact that two rookies were the best tight ends for the Bills says something. More experience is desperately needed

If Brandon Beane wants to bring in someone with more experience there is one obvious name out there. O.J. Howard could be a possible solution for the Bills tight end problem. With Rob Gronkowski being recently traded to Tampa Bay, Howard likely does not want to play as a back up when he has more than proven himself to be a capable starter in the NFL . The Bills could be a perfect fit for Howard, as he could make the Bills offense more lethal than it already is.
