Zack Moss
Beane was gushing when talking about Moss. He got an up close look at Moss while attending an Utah practice last fall. He loves that he can bang it in there and lower the shoulder. When mentioning his calling card, Beane was raving about his physicality, that he is a pounder, one-cut zone guy, and he doesn’t avoid contact. What most excited the general manager was when he recalled a stat of 38 percent of his runs he breaks at least one tackle. The Bills have their new bruiser back and someone that will complement Devin Singletary very nicely.
Much like Epenesa, the Buffalo Bills met with Moss at the NFL Combine and all medical issues were cleared up in the minds of the Bills brain trust. The meetings didn’t end there as the coaches held a zoom video session with Moss which Beane later watched the recorded version of it. Beane revealed they even tried to trade up the tailback which further shows how much the Bills wanted him.
A quick note on what this means for T.J. Yeldon is that he will return to his likely game day inactive role while providing great insurance incase of an injury to Singletary.
Quick Thoughts from Beane
- Dane Jackson is initially competing at outside corner but could see reps inside
- Epenesa is a left DE but can kick inside to 3TDT if needed
- Competition is take-away from draft. Beane believes Buffalo Bills accomplished this goal
- Vosean Joseph has healed from injury and bulked up as well. He’ll compete for OLB
- Tyler Matakevich is backup to Tremaine Edmunds at middle linebacker
- Of the seven draft picks, four were highest rated at the time with other three being needs with greatest chance to make roster
- Lack of spring reps will hurt rookies but Bills will do best they can with remote learning until players are allowed back into the facility
