Buffalo Bills: Worst first round picks and who they could have had
2009 NFL Draft – Aaron Maybin (11th overall)
The Buffalo Bills desperately needed a defensive end entering the 2009 NFL Draft and arguably the best pass rusher that year, Brian Orakpo, was still available when the team was on the clock. However, the team elected to go with an undersized pass rusher in Aaron Maybin out of Penn State.
Maybin lasted only two seasons with the Buffalo Bills, appearing in 27 games with one start. However, he finished with no sacks and only 25 total tackles.
He would go on to play two seasons with the New York Jets, finding some success with six sacks in 2011, but his time in the NFL quickly came to an end at only 24 years of age.
He was a player that had tremendous speed but didn’t have the size to match up with some of the bigger offensive tackles in the league.
