Buffalo Bills 7-Round Mock Draft: Buffalo goes edge rusher first
Round 7, Pick 239: Rodrigo Blankenship, K (Georgia)
This has continued to be a trend for these mock draft as the Buffalo Bills select kicker Rodrigo Blankenship with their pick in the seventh round. The decline in performance by Stephen Hauschka this past season should give the franchise pause and have them consider making a switch.
There isn’t any other player at this point in the NFL Draft that could have an immediate impact this season than Rodrigo Blankenship. The kicker position is usually one that is forgotten and not typically drafted but Blankenship has been one of the best kickers in college.
He won the Lou Groza Award, given to the best placekicker in college, this past season and has made over 80% percent of his field goal attempts each of the past three years. He also has shown good leg strength and accuracy on the longer kicks going 6 of 8 on attempts over 50 yards during that stretch.
The Buffalo Bills will likely bring in another kicker to help with the workload during the offseason for Hauschka but it might be worth bringing in another kicker who has a legitimate chance to compete for the starting job.
