Team Fit

Daryl Williams is a perfect fit for the Buffalo Bills offense at right tackle. He is a big, powerful offensive linemen that excels in run blocking. He did this well while at Oklahoma as a Sooner and it translated well to the NFL.

The biggest weakness, and this wasn’t necessarily a strength before his knee injury, was his pass blocking. This past season he really struggled with this at left tackle however it is hard to put much stock into his performance last year. He was moving around to different positions along the offensive line and trying to fully recover from his injury in 2018.

The good news for Williams, and this was a boost for him his first three seasons, is that he doesn’t have to be great at pass blocking because of the mobility of Josh Allen. Mobile quarterbacks like Allen, or Cam Newton, means offensive linemen don’t have to hold their block as long.

However, there is a learning curve blocking for mobile quarterbacks so they don’t lead the pass rusher right into them. Williams knows this and should be able to step right into if he wins the job at right tackle.
