Buffalo Bills: Grading the reported signing of Mario Addison
Final Grade
While the Buffalo Bills did not make a big splash with some of the better known pass rushers like Jadaveon Clowney, Robert Quinn or Dante Fowler, the team knows what they are getting with Mario Addison.
He is a steady pass rusher who has been highly productive over his time with the Carolina Panthers. He has registered nine or more sacks over the past four years and doesn’t look like he is slowing down anytime soon.
Mario Addison should step in as the starting defensive end opposite Jerry Hughes and be a nice boost to this team’s pass rush. He should also be a good voice in the locker room and potentially fill a leadership void left with the retirement of Lorenzo Alexander.
If there is one aspect holding this deal up it is certainly the contract and the questions will be if the money would have been better spent on a player like Shaq Lawson, who has the look of being an ascending player on the cusp of his prime.
Only time will tell if the Bills made the right choice but based on the information available right now, this is another solid deal made by this front office.
