Immediate Impact
The talk around the NFL Draft is that this class is one of the deepest at wide receivers and this seemed to fit perfectly into the Bills’ plans to address the need. However, after last year the Bills have a team that looks to be in a “win-now” mode and they didn’t have the time to develop a top wide receiver.
The wide receiver position is one that typically takes time for a player to make an impact and rookie wide receivers breaking out is a bit of a rarity. In the past three NFL Drafts, there has been seven wide receivers taken in the first round of those drafts. However, none of them broke 1,000 receiving yards as a rookie.
The Bills now have a wide receiver that they know has been productive in the NFL and can come in and have that immediate impact. There is no need for development, or a learning curve for a player to figure out how to win against cornerbacks at the NFL level.
The addition of Stefon Diggs is a better fit for the needs the team had at the position.
