Final Grade

While the offseason hasn’t really gotten started, fans may look back on this period and say the Quinton Spain deal was the best move the team made in terms of talent and value. By bringing Spain back the Bills ensure that their entire offensive line from a season ago returns for 2020.

Spain was a big part of the improvement of the offensive line last season with his play and made the players around him better.  He is an experience guard that excels in pass blocking but he could really become a star with improvements blocking for the run game.

In terms of value, it is hard to find a better value of $5 million for a starting guard, who has started 64 games over a five year period. The fact that he is behind the likes of a player like John Miller, who struggled to keep a starting job here in Buffalo, in terms of salary speaks to the steal that the Bills got.

This was an excellent move by Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills, and one that should pay dividends over the next few years.
