Buffalo Bills: 4 positions they need to add depth to this offseason
Safety
Similar to linebacker, the Bills know their top starters with Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. The depth is a concern though with Dean Marlowe and Kurt Coleman both free agents, leaving only Jaquan Johnson as the only reserve. He was a sixth round pick by the Bills last year and still likely needs time to develop.
The other player on the roster who could step in if the need arises is Siran Neal. However, Neal seems to be putting his focus towards the nickel position and will likely be the primary backup to Taron Johnson.
In the end, it wouldn’t be a bad move to bring back both Marlowe and Coleman as they know the system very well and could step in if the need arises.
However, if the team elects to go another direction this could be a position to try and build depth with youth through the NFL Draft. While neither Hyde or Poyer are particularly old, there contracts are close to the end and if the Bills can provide a bit of insurance with some draft picks, that could be the smart move.
