Running Back

The Buffalo Bills are likely going to be without Frank Gore for 2020 so they will need to find a running back to put alongside Devin Singletary. Recently, I wrote about the need to form a running back by committee and that belief is what will drive this solution.

For a true running back by committee, the Bills will need to find a back who can compliment Singletary but in terms of talent is his equal. A back that if the need arose could step in and be the featured back of this offense.

In free agency, there is plenty of options like Derrick Henry or Melvin Gordon. The player that is going to command the bigger salary is Henry, who had an incredible season this past year and was basically the Titans’ offense. Meanwhile, Gordon is a talented back who knows how to be effective in a shared role, something he did this past season with Austin Ekeler.

Meanwhile, in the NFL Draft there are a number of running backs that could fill that role of 1B to Singletary’s 1A. At the top of most boards are backs like Jonathan Taylor, J.K. Dobbins and DeAndre Swift.

Best Solution: The Buffalo Bills already have a rising star in Devin Singletary and it makes sense to pair him with another running back in this upcoming NFL Draft. The combination of these two should solidify the position for at least the next three years. The other positive for the Buffalo Bills is they could use a mid-round pick, like a third, and still get a player that can come in and have an immediate impact due to the fact that running back has not been a priority for most teams.
