Buffalo Bills: 5 players that may have played their last game with team
Jordan Phillips
While the Buffalo Bills are near the top of the league in terms of cap space this offseason, it doesn’t mean that they don’t have to be conscious of where they are spending those dollars. One of those tough decisions will be with defensive tackle Jordan Phillips.
The former second round pick of the Miami Dolphins joined the Buffalo Bills midway through the 2018 season. He showed enough that the team re-signed him last offseason on a one-year deal and Phillips had a breakout year.
He finished the season with 9.5 sacks, which led the team in that category. This likely sets him up to get a substantial contract this offseason. However, the Bills have great depth at the position with Ed Oliver, Star Lotulelei and the returning Harrison Phillips. It doesn’t make sense to tie up more money at a position that depth can be found at lower price points or with late round draft picks.
There is no question that the Bills defense would see a boost from a return of Jordan Phillips, however the likely cost associated with it doesn’t make sense for the team at this point.
