Buffalo Bills: 4 running backs to watch at NFL Combine
J.K. Dobbins
There is a group of running backs at the top of this class that look like they could be special and one of those running backs is J.K. Dobbins. The running back out of Ohio State is an all-around back that can beat opposing defenses on the ground as well as through the air.
He was highly effective for the Buckeyes with three seasons over 1,000 yards and really broke out this past season with 2,003 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns. He showed great speed and had at least one run over 40 yards each season, including a 66-yard run this past year.
If the Bills were to select Dobbins, they would have two backs with similar skill sets and body frames. While it might be nice to have a bigger running back, if the Buffalo Bills have Dobbins they wouldn’t be restricted by situation. The coaching staff could essentially use either back in any given situation and this will keep opposing defenses guessing and giving the Bills the advantage.
The downside here is that the Buffalo Bills would likely have to use one of their top picks, either in the first round or likely trade up into the second to get Dobbins. The asking price may be too steep but an offense that had both of these backs would be tough to stop.
