Bring in another tight end through the NFL Draft

Of the three scenarios outlined, this is the least likely to happen for the Buffalo Bills. The main selling point for bringing in a tight end like Greg Olsen was to be that mentor for Dawson Knox and Tommy Sweeney.

This is something that wouldn’t be achieved through the NFL Draft. In addition, the Bills used two draft picks this past offseason and to use another this year seems like a lot.

If the Buffalo Bills were to draft a tight end though, it would likely be primarily for depth and be a late round draft pick. The team would have also likely released Tyler Kroft and keep a player like Lee Smith, who is more of a blocking specialist.

While the Buffalo Bills did miss out on Greg Olsen, the tight end position is still in good shape. This is a position that has young talent with Dawson Knox and Tommy Sweeney that is a long term answer. The question comes down to whether Brandon Beane keeps Tyler Kroft or goes with a veteran like Jason Witten and both are excellent options at this point.
