Shaquil Barrett

The Buffalo Bills will have to address their defensive end position this offseason and it is rare when the league leader in sacks last year is available in free agency. However, that is exactly the case for Shaquil Barrett, who had 19.5 sacks with the Tampa Bay Bucs last season.

Barrett spent the first five years of his career with the Denver Broncos after signing as an undrafted free agent. He spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad but got a chance to play his second year with the team. However, he didn’t make a significant impact and in four years recorded only 14 sacks.

That is where the concern lies with Barrett as there are a number of questions that likely won’t be answered before he signs his next contract. Did he produce the way he did last year because of the defense he was playing in? Could he replicate a similar performance on another team?

There is a team that is going to reward his performance and give the pass rusher a big contract but that team shouldn’t be the Buffalo Bills.
