Frank Alexander

A current teammate of Cameron Artis-Payne on the Dallas Renegades, and a former teammate with the Carolina Panthers, defensive end Frank Alexander is another interesting player that the Buffalo Bills could consider.

Alexander was a fourth round pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2012 NFL Draft and would end up playing his entire time in Carolina with Sean McDermott as his defensive coordinator. He showed flashes as a rookie, starting three games in 2012, and finished with 2.5 sacks.

However, that was the high point of Alexander’s time in the NFL as he wasn’t able to build off that rookie season and finished with only one sack in 12 games of the 2013 season.

The risk with Alexander, and the Bills would have to really investigate, is that he was suspended three times for testing positive for marijuana in a two year period. He was penalized with a four game suspension in 2014 and before that suspension ended, he tested positive again and was suspended for an additional 10 games.

In 2015, the hope was Alexander would be able to bounce back but he suffered a torn achillies in the preseason and tested positive again while on injured reserve.

At 30 years of age, the question is just how many opportunities he has left to get back to the NFL. If he plays well, and the Buffalo Bills feel confident after doing their due diligence, the addition of Alexander would fill a need.
