Cardale Jones

The D.C. Defenders actually have two former Buffalo Bills quarterbacks with Cardale Jones, who is their starter, and Tyree Jackson, who is their backup.

Cardale Jones rose to stardom during his time in college with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He had an incredible performance during the College Football Playoffs and helped the Buckeyes win the National Championship in 2014.

However, Jones elected to return to college after that season and really struggled, eventually losing the starting job to J.T. Barrett.

The Buffalo Bills saw enough in college to select him in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and he was the team’s third string quarterback behind E.J. Manuel and Tyrod Taylor. The only playing time he saw with the Bills was in the last game of the 2016 season after Manuel was benched. He went 6 of 11 for 96 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

This would be the last playing time Jones saw in an NFL regular season game even though he spent time with the Chargers and the Seahawks.

Hopefully, Jones can find that spark he had with the Buckeyes while playing for the Defenders and work his way back to the NFL.
