Current Depth Chart

The Buffalo Bills depth chart has remained unchanged since roster cut downs at the start of the season with Josh Allen as the starter and Matt Barkley as the backup.

As noted previously, the quarterback position is as solidified as it has been in a number of years and thanks to Allen’s play, a majority of the questions at the start of the year have been answered.

If there is going to be a change, it would be at backup if the coaching staff feels there is a better option than Matt Barkley. However, Barkley is under contract for one more year with a cap hit just over two million dollars.

The five year veteran saw little action this year with only a quarter of play in Week 4 against the New England Patriots and then his time in relief in Week 17 against the New York Jets. He has shown during that time that he can run the offense and if needed can step in and move the ball.

Even though they likely won’t make the switch with Barkley, the front office will bring in another quarterback for the offseason. These are some options in free agency for the team to consider.
