Defensive Rookie of the Year

Winner: Ed Oliver

The Buffalo Bills organization was overjoyed when defensive tackle Ed Oliver fell to them in the first round of this past NFL Draft. While it took Oliver a bit of time to make an impact, over the second half of the season he was the disrupting force the front office envisioned when they selected him.

He finished the year with five sacks and 43 tackles. However, in the final seven games he had four sacks and in four of those games had four or more tackles.

The quickness Oliver brings to the defensive tackle position is going to be a great asset for this defense going forward. He will have the ability to break up run plays behind the line of scrimmage as well as collapse the pocket on passing downs, forcing quarterbacks to scramble.
