Bills’ defense has chance to be elite

While the offense improved, there is no way to dispute this team’s success was due in large part to the defense. The Bills defense finished third in fewest total yards allowed per game (298.3), fourth in fewest passing yards (195.2) and 10th in fewest rushing yards (103.1) and second in points allowed per game (16.2).

This group had a special season and the thing that should have fans excited is that a majority of the starters are back. The only players, who played significant snaps, who could potentially not be back is Jordan Phillips and Shaq Lawson, who are both free agents, and linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, who announced his retirement after the Texans’ game.

Another season with the core nucleus of Tremaine Edmunds, Tre’Davious White, Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer and Matt Milano under Leslie Frazier should set up this defense up to continue performing at a high level.
