Vontae Davis Halftime Retirement

There was plenty that happened during last year’s home opener, including the fact that it was Josh Allen’s first start in his NFL career. However, this game from 2018 will be remembered for one of the most bizarre moments in not only team history, but for the league.

Last year got off to a rocky start as the Bills got blown out by the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 by a score of 47-3. They returned home to face the Los Angeles Chargers and quickly found themselves down 28-6 at halftime.

The one thing they couldn’t find though was Vontae Davis, who started the game at cornerback for the Bills. However, the veteran decided it was time to call it quits on his career and retired at halftime. He left the stadium while the game was still going on and didn’t look back.

The decision of Davis was such a shocking one that Brendan Meyers of ESPN recently wrote an article one year later catching up with Vontae Davis.

This will easily go down as one of the most memorable moments for a home opener in Buffalo Bills history.
