The Buffalo Bills made the first regular season an exciting affair. The hope is that they can continue with another trip to MetLife Stadium.

For Buffalo Bills fans a typical off-season is long. It starts with viewing other teams play in the Wild Card playoff games, Divisional Round, Conference Championship week, Pro Bowl weekend and of course the Super Bowl.

Then teams begin evaluating coaching staff and making the necessary adjustments. Draft hype leading into the NFL Draft and free agency demands some attention. OTAs, mini-camp and finally training camp builds up to the preseason games that mean nothing on the scoreboard.

And then it is finally here…the season opener. The wait is finally over. Are you ready for some football? The New York Jets. Division rival with franchise quarterbacks from the same draft class. Game on.

Two weeks in a row they play at the same stadium in New Jersey.  The same stadium not being in Orchard Park. Very rare.

All the wait for the opener and as quick as you can say Nate Peterman, the Bills turn the ball over four times with other extremely close calls. The one thing separating the performance of Josh Allen at that point from say the E.J. Manuel Wembley Stadium debacle or Nathan Peterman’s total body of work, was after all of that, Buffalo was only down by 6-0 to the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets.

A different feeling was in the air as well. The game never looked like the Jets took ownership of those turnovers. The defense never gave up any scores on those turnovers as the six points was compliments of a pick six.

Buffalo was also stuffed for a safety which is two more points not scored on the Buffalo defense.

In the second half, it appeared maybe to turn the corner with some closure for the Jets as they increased the lead to 16-0. Lights out defense by Buffalo and inexcusable kicking by the Jets allowed the Bills to loiter like Jay and Silent Bob in front of the Quickie Mart.

Then a rookie running back began to come to life for the team wearing white helmets, white jerseys and blue pants. A drive sealed with a Stephen Hauschka kick gave the Bills life. Another drive ending with Josh Allen taking the ball in for the score now made a Bills comeback a probability.  The winning drive was clinched with a great adjusted pass and catch by Allen to John Brown who finished the play in the endzone.

Wide receivers Zay Jones, John Brown and Cole Beasley all contributed to the comeback. Running back Devin Singletary displayed why he was drafted so high by a team that already had LeSean McCoy. Josh Allen showed poise and resiliency as his 4th quarter statistics were that of a pro-bowler as he stayed calm, cool and collective. Tight ends Tommy Sweeney and Dawson Knox both made receptions getting the position on the stat sheet. When the Bills needed ball security at the very end of the game none other than Frank Gore saw his number called often.

I must say that even during the abhorrent times in the first half for Josh Allen, many factors  contributed to the turnovers. Yes he needs to take better care of the ball. The offense was moving the ball at times which can be an optimistic outlook. Easy to say after a comeback mission is complete. I digress..

It would be very electrifying to see Buffalo walk out of MetLife Stadium at 2-0 going back to Orchard Park for the home opener.
