Buffalo Bills: 53-man roster projections following preseason

Tight End

*Tyler Kroft placed on PUP list

The tight end position may have less clarity than it did at the start of the Buffalo Bills training camp. The team has yet to get Tyler Kroft back from a broken foot and a possible scenario would be to place him on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

During the last preseason game, GM Brandon Beane did say he may lean towards not going this route, but it would be a risk. If Kroft is not ready for Week 1, the Bills would only have three healthy tight ends, two of which are rookies.

The move of Kroft to the PUP list frees up a roster spot, which goes to Jason Croom. The depth at the position is shaky with two rookies (Tommy Sweeney and Dawson Knox) so a player like Croom who has experience in the offense is valuable.
