Buffalo Bills: Rookie Report after second preseason game
Vosean Joseph
The fifth round draft pick played 25 snaps against the Carolina Panthers, playing 33% of the defensive snaps, while also playing 10 snaps on special teams. He finished the game with only one tackle. If Joseph hopes to have regular snaps during the regular season, it will likely come on special teams.
Jaquan Johnson
The team’s sixth round pick was tied for the team lead in defensive snaps with 49 against the Panthers. He also had 10 snaps on special teams He finished the game with three tackles and one pass defended. Similar to Joseph, he will find most of his playing time on special teams, especially with the depth the Bills have at safety.
Darryl Johnson
Once again, Darryl Johnson had a strong performance and had a sack in his second straight game. The rookie defensive end has looked great so far this preseason and if he continues to produce over the next two games, he should be part of the regular rotation at defensive end for the Bills.
Tommy Sweeney
Tommy Sweeney bounced back after a quiet game against the Colts, to catch two passes for 47 yards, including a nice sliding catch on the sideline on the team’s first drive. The Bills are getting healthy at the tight end position with Dawson Knox and Jason Croom returning to practice.
It will be interesting to see how the coaching staff divides up snaps over the last two games, but Sweeney is in a good spot after his performance against the Panthers.
