LeSean McCoy

One of the key players to watch closely will be running back LeSean McCoy, who will be playing in a preseason game for the first time this year. The Bills’ coaching staff made the decision at the start of the preseason that Frank Gore would start the first game and McCoy would start the second. This would help keep these veterans back fresh and limit their chances at a potential injury.

McCoy is entering this season in a weird position as some believe he has lost a step after a down year last season. He finished the year averaging only 3.2 yards per carry, which was a career low.

He also is entering the final year of his contract with a salary over six million, which is another reason some believe he could be cut or traded before the start of the season. However, McCoy was passionate about the fact that he is still a big part of this offense for 2019.

There is certainly reason to believe he could have a bounce back year with an improved offensive line, more experienced Josh Allen and better weapons at wide receiver. It will be interesting to see how McCoy looks in his first live game action of 2019.
