Stock Up: John Brown

One of the reasons for the excitement around Josh Allen is the connection he has developed with John Brown. He, along with Cole Beasley, were free agent signings this offseason and were brought in to help Allen take that next step.

The belief was that Brown was brought in to be a speed option for this offense that could help stretch the field. However, he has shown to be more of a well-rounded receiver that brings more than just speed.

Bills’ receiver coach Chad Hall had this to say about Brown’s route running ability, according to Matt Parrino:

"“As far as route running and him having indicators, he is probably the smoothest guy I’ve ever seen. … He plays a lot bigger than he is and he separates very well,” Hall said. “(Defensive backs) have to be aware of all of that, and will play softer because of it. He can run every underneath route, too. The DBs can’t look at him and find something because I try and do that with all my guys where (I say), ‘They’re gonna key on this or this.’ I haven’t found one yet with him.”"

The connection between Josh Allen and John Brown has been one of the most exciting developments this training camp. The hope is that this will translate to the regular season.
