Does Ed Oliver start with the first team?

Among the new additions this offseason for the Buffalo Bills, Ed Oliver may be the one player fans are most excited to see. The former University of Houston defensive tackle was selected ninth overall and brings a level of quickness and explosiveness that is rare for the position.

While Oliver will likely be starting by the time the regular season rolls around, it will be worth watching he opens training camp among the starters. If he does, this will be a departure from Sean McDermott’s philosophy as a head coach.

As Parrino noted in his article after OTAs, McDermott is a coach that believes spots are not given but earned. However, Oliver’s talent is undeniable and having him on the field only makes the defense better. Any time spent with the second team will only be temporary.
