Quarterback

QB1: Jim Kelly – 1991

Fantasy points: 262

Was it going to be anybody else? No. Jim Kelly‘s 1991 season was historically great. Playing under the famed hurry-up K-Gun offense, Kelly shredded defenses in wake to a Super Bowl performance. He was magnificent throughout the ’90s, but no season was–statistically–as good as 1991.

Kelly’s 33 passing touchdowns are still the highest amount for any Bills quarterback in a season, with Josh Ferguson’s 1983, 26 touchdown year coming in second. Though his 3,844 passing yards ranks second, his 1991 season holds the highest fantasy football year for any Bills quarterback ever. It helps that he added a rushing touchdown too, and reached the Super Bowl.

QB2 (bench): Drew Bledsoe – 2002

Fantasy points: 248

The 2002 Bills squad was frustrating to watch; they didn’t make the playoffs and finished 6-10. However, that doesn’t discount Drew Bledsoe‘s fantastic fantasy season, which was his first after the trade to Buffalo. The former Patriot earned a Pro-Bowl nod in wake to the Bills’ single-season leading passing yard record with 4,349.

Bledsoe’s lower touchdown rate–the Bills didn’t score a touchdown for three games straight–hurts his fantasy football stock for 2002, but he was the obvious selection for the bench role. Though Bledsoe won’t be remembered too fondly for his time in Western New York, it’s hard to negate his fantastic 2002, passing to Peerless Price and Eric Moulds, in turn, making an often dynamic offense.
