Defense/Kicker

Defense: 1988

Unfortunately, tracking team fantasy defensive stats isn’t common. Leagues often range in points for interceptions, yards allowed, touchdowns allowed, and fumbles; therefore, the winner of the best Bills fantasy defense is on the basis on total points allowed–lockout seasons are disqualified–in a 16 game season.

The winner: 1988 Bills. For the season, the team allowed just 237 points–third in the NFL for the year. The same defense recorded 46 sacks, 15 interceptions, and 286.1 yards allowed per game. It was a star-studded squad that sent linebacker Cornelius Bennet and pass-rusher Bruce Smith to the All-Pro team and Pro-Bowl. Linebacker Shane Conlan followed to the Pro-Bowl.

Honorable mentions: 2018, 2004, 1993, and 1990.

Kicker: Dan Carpenter – 2014

Fantasy points: 152

Dan Carpenter‘s 2014 barely edges out Steve Christie‘s 1998 for best fantasy kicker season in Bills history. He edged out Christie by just two points, in large part due to his higher completion percentage, and amount of field goals made. He scored 34 field goals–most in Bills history–on an 89.5% clip while making six from 50+ range. Carpenter also made 31 of his 32 PATs.
