The news surrounding the Buffalo Bills is slow right now. That means the focus can be on the impending Super Bowl matchup.

I have recently taken some time to read through the comments left on the site by Buffalo Bills fans.

As one may expect in a comment section, there are mixed results.

A common theme I see has to deal with the balance between being optimistic in 2019 and feeling a sense of worry with the team and where things are headed.

This brings me to my thoughts on this year’s Super Bowl.

The game between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams is one between some L.A. team and one of the most bitter rivals of the Bills. Yet young Bills fans may be thinking the Patriots will be atop the NFL forever.

That is not the case.

The Bills used to have the upper hand over the Patriots before Tom Brady came to town and before Jim Kelly retired to end what was the best era of Bills football.

The Bills will indeed be a great team again in the future and the beginning of another great run could come in 2019. Some fans hate to talk about how “next year” could be the year. Yet it is true for all professional sports teams.

A Patriots loss in the Super Bowl, or even a win, could lead to major changes on that roster. Regardless of the outcome, that team is getting older while the Bills are young and ready to strike. Change could be on the horizon.

We look at this and more in today’s Morning Charge.

Obvious rooting interest for Bills fans in the Super Bowl (BuffaLowDown, Steven Kubitza)

Are you rooting for the Rams to win? Or simply a Patriots loss without finding any joy in a Rams win? These are the questions to ask in what is a slow news cycle for Bills fans.

No London game for the Bills in 2019 (BuffaLowDown, Steven Kubitza)

The Bills will not be playing an international game in 2019. That is great news for fans in Buffalo, but may be frustrating for fans abroad who don’t want to travel to see a game. Oh well, you can’t please everyone.

Former Bills offensive lineman Joe O’Donnell dies at 77 (PFT, Mike Florio)

Some sad news from a few days ago about a former Bills player. These guys give all they have for the franchise. It is genuinely sad to see someone you cheered for pass away.

4 building blocks in place for the Bills heading into 2019 (Bills.com, John Murphy)

The Bills are in a good place.

The team has plenty of building blocks all over the field. 2019 will be the start of when the young players have to take the next step toward greatness.
