Buffalo Bills fans will get to see another player return for one more year as Lorenzo Alexander is back for the 2019 season.

Last year it was Kyle Williams deciding to suit up for one more year in a Buffalo Bills uniform.

This time around it is Lorenzo Alexander who will defy time and return to lead the defense in 2019.

Alexander is 35 years old and will be 36 once the 2019 season rolls around. He has only been with the team since 2016 but appears to love Buffalo enough to come back for another year.

The veteran was second on the Bills defense in sacks last season with 6.5 and was fourth overall in total tackles. He appeared in all 16 games and even had two interceptions from his linebacker spot.

There is an interesting mix at linebacker for this team. Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds are two young players who essentially serve as the future at the position. Then there is Alexander, who serves as the veteran leader. Oh yeah, he can also still start and play at a high level.

This is great news especially after losing Williams to retirement. The defense, and the team as a whole, retains a veteran voice. That is extremely important given the youth of this team. And it will only get younger with another draft class coming to town.

Re-signing Alexander keeps the linebacker position out of the discussion of where the team needs to find upgrades this offseason. Some more depth wouldn’t hurt, but this unit is stacked with talent and will be a reason why the defense remains at the top of the leaderboards in 2019.
