The Buffalo Bills didn’t get much out of the tight end position in 2018 and that needs to change in order to help Josh Allen improve in 2019.

The Buffalo Bills signed Charles Clay to a five-year deal back in 2015 and he has not exactly been a top target during his tenure.

That is why the team may decide to utilize some of the cap space this offseason and cut him at a lower cost thanks to the construction of his contract.

Clay appeared in 13 games this season and only recorded 21 catches for 184 yards. Meanwhile, Jason Croom led all tight ends with 22 receptions for 259 yards.

It was a bad year for all pass-catchers on the roster, but the tight ends stood out as another weak spot on the offense. To be fair, there is room for improvement and changes at every position on offense other than quarterback.

That makes tight end an under-the-radar to focus on in both free agency and the 2019 NFL Draft. There is also the situation with Clay’s contract, where he can be let go with a cap hit of only $4.5 million. Yes, I realize I just actually said only in regard to that sum of money.

We look at the tight ends and more in today’s Tuesday edition of The Morning Charge.
