Today marks one year since the Buffalo Bills made a return to the postseason and ended a playoff drought that seemed to go on forever.

The first round of the NFL playoffs are now over and there was plenty of drama to enjoy, even though the Buffalo Bills were not taking part this year.

Today marks exactly one year since the Bills took on the Jacksonville Jaguars in a game that ended a postseason drought known around the league. The result wasn’t a win, but it did take that storyline away and allow the Bills to move past it and focus on not just ending the drought, but on building to become a contender.

The team was in a familiar losing position in 2018, but there should be plenty of optimism heading into next season. A big splash to start free agency in March would be a great way to start.

I don’t expect anyone to think back to a year ago with great joy and accept that game as some legendary moment. Yet it is interesting to see how the feelings following the loss compare to the feelings fans have now. I would argue there is more reason to be optimistic about the future now than there was then.

We look at the latest news surrounding the Bills in a Monday edition of The Morning Charge.

I don’t know why Kiko Alonso enjoys being a dirty player. I guess some people don’t care about losing tens of thousands of dollars. Must be nice.

The Bills need several new position coaches and it appears the team has one name in mind. The team just needs permission to interview him.

Bills reportedly sign top CFL receiver Duke Williams (The Buffalo News, Vic Carucci)

The Bills have reportedly brought in a new receiver, this time from the CFL.

It seems like Brandon Beane will explore every option possible to improve the team, and that is good news.
