The Buffalo Bills aren’t blowing things up this offseason like other teams are, which gives the team a head start on the 2019 season.

Sean McDermott will be the head coach of the Buffalo Bills in 2019 and that is a great thing.

I am not a major McDermott fan in any sense, but I am glad to see the team sticking with the process in place. The plan involved struggling this year, so it’s not like anyone should be too surprised about the record.

This did not make for a fun season as a fan. Yet it was all part of Brandon Beane’s plan. As long as the team doesn’t regress in 2019, the plan should be seen as a positive.

There are about to be a lot of NFL coaches out of a job next week. So while the firings happen, Bills fans can sit back and be happy that the team can already start preparing for the 2019 season instead of having to find a whole new staff to lead the way.

Coaching changes can be good. New views can be brought to a team and records can be drastically improved. That is why some Bills fans are calling for McDermott to be fired.

The difference is that he took the team to the playoffs last year and given this year’s roster, the postseason may not have been a realistic goal. I assume the playoff berth in 2017 was a major surprise to a lot of individuals in the organization.

McDermott earned himself a third season and likely a fourth, barring total disaster in 2019. We look at this and more in a Friday edition of The Morning Charge.

Josh Allen hasn’t been great through the air, but he has done enough on the ground to warrant some credit as a playmaker in his rookie season.

Allen has the fire that this team needs. Hopefully the extra motivation leads to a big win on Sunday.
