The Buffalo Bills have not gotten much production out of LeSean McCoy in 2018, yet it doesn’t appear that he will be going anywhere in 2019.

The Buffalo Bills have one game remaining this season and Josh Allen has a great chance to finish as the team’s leading rusher.

Allen currently has 536 rushing yards this year. LeSean McCoy is second on the team with 488. That is not ideal given McCoy’s usual output.

McCoy is under contract in 2019 and his struggles could lead to the team trying to trade him this offseason. The problem is that there may not be much of a return if his value appears to be lower than it was at the start of the year.

But some comments from Sean McDermott today may mean there will not be active trade discussions.

One important note from this is that the team still has a game to play, so McDermott is not going to cast doubt upon one of his starters. Especially one who is considered one of the better running backs to ever play.

This message could quickly change after Sunday’s game, but for now it seems that the team at least initially plans to keep McCoy around and chalk up this year as a fluke.

It makes sense to at least keep McCoy around for the start of the season. The Bills don’t have any rising young talent at the position, or at least anyone who needs to be the number one back next year. And if the Bills draft a top running back, McCoy can lead the way and let the young player ease into action.

The Bills should listen to offers in case a great one comes in and turning it down would be seen as foolish. But if that offer doesn’t come in, there is no harm in at least starting the season with McCoy in the backfield.
