Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen has yet to sign his contract, but he remains far from the only rookie who remains unsigned.

The Buffalo Bills signed first-round pick Tremaine Edmunds in May. The same cannot be said for Josh Allen.

The rookie quarterback still hasn’t signed his rookie deal as training camp is now less than a month away. The good news for Bills fans is that Allen isn’t the only rookie first-rounder who still hasn’t signed. In fact, only two of this year’s top 10 picks have signed deals.

This situation has been something I have been tracking since the draft but realistically, this isn’t an issue until the first training camp practice begins. And based on the way Allen carries himself coupled with the wide open quarterback position, a holdout would be truly surprising.

Allen has been at all the offseason workouts and is already saying all the right things about the city, which is exactly what this organization needs from its No. 7 overall pick. He even welcomed Rasmus Dahlin to town! He has the “gets us” factor. That is not the most important thing in a quarterback but it will sure be awesome to see Allen at some Sabres game this year, cheering on his fellow Buffalo athletes.

But as well all know, football remains a business. Great individuals have held out, even with the structured rookie contract scale, which is something both sides must try to avoid. I would be more worried if Allen had glaring character issues, but if that was the case the team likely wouldn’t have drafted him in the first place.

Bills fans won’t be glued to “Allen Watch” throughout the month of July waiting for him to sign. Yet it remains a storyline as the news cycle slowly begins to speed up as the month progresses.
