1991
The Bills made it to the second of four Super Bowls looking to bring home a championship after a heartbreaking loss the year before. More on that later.
The Bills finished the regular season 13-3 for the second straight season and didn’t skip a beat after a magical run to the Super Bowl during the 1990 season.
Thurman Thomas was named the MVP and the Bills edged out the Broncos by the score of 10-7 to win the AFC Championship Game. Then came the Redskins in the Super Bowl.
Bills fans were given heartbreak once again, although not as dramatically this time, with a 37-24 loss that saw the Bills trail 17-0 at halftime.
As was the case in all four Super Bowl losses, the Bills simply got outplayed by a great team. The Redskins went 14-2 in 1991 and picked up three double-digit wins in the postseason, with the third coming against the Bills.
The unfortunate part of this season is the fact fans watched the team lose once again in what was supposed to be the season of redemption. Instead, doubts started to creep in and would continue after two more losses.
It is hard to be too upset about any Super Bowl appearance after a 13-3 season, but two straight losses seemed like torture before it got even worse.
