Josh Rosen

Quarterback – UCLA

Drafted No. 10 overall (Round 1 / Pick 10) by the Arizona Cardinals

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Josh Rosen is my favorite quarterback in this class.

Rosen went No. 10 to the Arizona Cardinals just three picks after the Bills moved up to select Josh Allen at No. 7, and they also traded up five spots to do so. While Buffalo traded two second-round picks to move up five spots and take Allen, the Cardinals only gave up a third and fifth in addition to No. 15 overall to move up to No. 10 and take their quarterback of the future.

I have gone on and on about Rosen and how much I love his game, and I had hoped it was his name that was called in the place of Josh Allen’s. It appears that the rumors of Rosen falling in the draft were spot on as he was the fourth of the “big four” QBs taken in the draft. If the Bills truly wanted Rosen, it appears to me that they could have moved up to No. 10 instead of No. 7 to select Rosen, and they could have traded pick No. 96 instead of their two seconds.

Giving Buffalo both of their seconds back allows them to add even more talent to a growing roster. They could have filled needs with high quality players in a deep draft class.

With so much uncertainty at the QB position in Buffalo, Rosen has the skillset to step right in and start from day one for the Bills. His abilities behind center seem to fit extremely well into the type of offensive system that Brian Daboll wants to run, and opting to select Allen and his potential over Rosen and his proven abilities may come back to bite the Bills in the short, and long-term.
