The Buffalo Bills decide to stay patient and take one of the more polarizing quarterbacks in the class in the latest mock draft from FanSided.

We are back to take a look at an outside mock draft to see what others think the Buffalo Bills will do in the 2018 NFL Draft.

We are once again checking out what FanSided’s Brad Weiss has to say in his latest mock, and the results are interesting for the Bills. As a note, there are no trades in this mock, which is why the Bills remain at both No. 12 and No. 22 overall.

At No. 12, Weiss has the Bills taking a chance on a young quarterback in Josh Allen. From the article:

"Allen has the arm talent to make all the throws at the next level, but he struggled against good competition during his time at Wyoming. A lot of that has to do with the fact he had a poor offensive line, and his weapons were nothing to write home about. If he does got to Buffalo, they will have their franchise quarterback for the next ten years, and after making the playoffs in 2017, they appear to be a team who could challenge in the AFC East next season."

This is an interesting selection because Allen remains a polarizing figure among draft analysts. He seems to have the prototypical body of an NFL quarterback, but where he went to school and some of his accuracy numbers have people worried.

I’m not sure if Allen will be available this late in the first round, but he still remains an option if the team decides to trade up. And right now, it may be unfair for some to already declare him to be a bust, but that is just how this time of year goes. People get their opinions and stick to them, but it is up to the teams to do all the dirty work and get to know these quarterbacks better than anyone.

To protect Allen, Weiss has the Bills taking offensive tackle Orlando Brown at No. 22 overall. From the article:

"A lot of people are down on Brown due to his porous showing at the NFL Scouting Combine. However, he had a solid pro day, and has had the task of protecting Baker Mayfield’s backside the last few seasons. All Mayfield has done in that time is win the Heisman Trophy, and you can be sure a lot of his success came from being comfortable knowing that Brown had his back."

Brown is an interesting option in any scenario, but grabbing him and Baker Mayfield is a fun idea for Bills fans to consider. But in this mock draft, Brown comes in to protect Allen, hopefully for many years to come.

It is never easy to project how an offensive lineman will do in the NFL as there are countless busts, especially at the tackle spots. That may be why it is better to find some free agent linemen with experience who have proved they can hold their own, even if they aren’t among the top tackles in the league.
