Fansided.com has recently ranked the top 250 sports fanbases, and your Buffalo Bills earned the number 81 spot on the list. More importantly, the 8th spot among the die-hard fanbases in the National Football League.
There are not many fanbases that would stand out in the freezing cold, in three feet of snow to watch a sporting event. A sporting event that they have no personal ties to except for the love of the team, and the city.
It makes it even better that the Buffalo Bills have been quite bad over the past seventeen years. The Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears tough out the cold, but those have been historically successful franchises, and have been in Super Bowls within the past ten years.
The Buffalo Bills are in the midst of a seventeen year playoff drought, and out fans still keep coming.
Going to Buffalo for a football game in quite the experience. People and fans from all over the place come to take part in the Buffalo-tailgate experience. Whether it is breaking a table or screaming at the top of your lungs, Buffalo fans love their Bills, and they won’t trade them for anything.
This from the Fansided article describing the Buffalo Bills’ fanbase:
"“Perhaps the greatest testament to the fans was the ability to keep filling the stadium despite bad records and threat of relocation to Toronto.Instead of seeing their team ripped away like so many other franchises in the past, Buffalonians held firm and continued to support their team, finally getting relief when the Pegulas, a local family that also owns the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL, bought the team.”"
The Buffalo Bills fanbase ranks ahead of storied franchises such as the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Denver Broncos. Although the Bills rank just two spots behind their AFC East counterparts, the New England Patriots, Buffalo is trending in the right direction.
