BLD Podcast: Can the Bills build off the bye?
CLICK HERE to listen to this week’s Buffalowdown Podcast. How many of you expected the Bills to be a game over 500 coming off the bye week? I can tell you I wasn’t one of them. However, let’s wipe the surprised look off our faces, as we look to the Bills potential to build off an unexpected 3-2 start. Yes, it would have been nice to go into the bye week at 4-1 with a healthier roster, but these are the cards the Bills have been dealt.
One aspect of this Bills team that remains evident out of the bye week: the Bills need to find a way to get offensive production. Fortunately, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will come into New Era Field with the NFL’s 31st ranked defense. As surprising as it may be that the Bills are 3 and 2, what is even more surprising is that LeSean McCoy has yet to get into the end zone after 5 games. Will this be the week that Shady finds his comfortable landing spot? Or will this be the week where see Tyrod Taylor connect with his wide receivers? It’s been no secret that Charles Clay has been the 3rd year starter’s favorite target this season. With Clay out, Bills fans can surely expect to see more of Nick O’Leary catching the football, but does Clay’s injury open up the receiving corp for more ball distribution? We shall see on Sunday.
As the Bills look to build on their 3-2 record, the unit that continues to get much deserved attention is the Buffalo Bills defense. Their completely new secondary has played solid in the early goings of the season. This week the Bills may see former Buffalo starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, as Jameis Winston battles an AC join sprain. No matter who plays quarterback, one would expect the Bills to continue to get a push from their front 4, and to rely on the their back seven for support.
Other topics for discussion on this week’s podcast include:
- The return of Jordan Matthews?
- Offensive threats posed by Tampa Bay
- Does Steven Hauschka continue his field goal hot streak?
- Will this be a big way for LeSean McCoy?
