Back on April 27th, the Buffalo Bills traded backward from the number ten spot they had and picked up a first-round pick in return from the Kansas City Chiefs.

Later in the draft, at that 27th spot they received from the Chiefs, the Bills took cornerback out of LSU Tre’Davious White. Well, this morning White was named the AFC’s Defensive Rookie of the Month.

Through three games this season Tre’Davious White has been everything the Buffalo Bills expected from their first-round draft choice. Mind you; this is the same guy the Bills traded down for to get. In three games White has 14 tackles with three of them being assisted, seven passes defended and one interception that came last week over Buffalo’s surprising upset over the Denver Broncos. White comes into week four having the tenth best cornerback rating from Pro Football Focus with an 84.1.

The award also comes at a time where the Bills defense has yet to allow a passing touchdown yet. But the secondary of the Bills will have their toughest matchup to date when they travel to the luxurious Mercedes-Benz Stadium to take on Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons. Buffalo’s defense will have to play a near-perfect game to stop Ryan and the Falcons, as they’re averaging 29 points per game and Ryan has thrown for over 220 yards in every game.

White now joins former Buffalo Bills; cornerbacks Ronald Darby (September 2015) and Leodis McKelvin (November 2008) as the only Bills cornerbacks to win Defensive Rookie of the Month. You could make the case that if White finishes off the year strong, maybe receives another AFC Defensive Rookie of the Month award that he could steal the Rookie of the Year Award.

But, so far this season Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt looks to be in the driver’s seat having 401 rushing yards through three weeks.

It’s only been three weeks into the season, but White has certainly lived up to his first-round hype and has stolen the hearts of many Buffalo Bills’ fans.
