Pro Football Focus ranks the rookie grades after every week in the NFL. Kareem Hunt tops the list of course, but Buffalo Bills’ rookie cornerback Tre’Davious White plans to give him a run for his money.
Pro Football Focus has graded Buffalo Bills’ rookie standout, Tre’Davious White, 83.7 so far in the season. He has had to face off against wide receivers such as Jermaine Kearse and Kelvin Benjamin. White handled them both very well but will have his hands full with Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.
Rookie cornerback, Marshon Lattimore, comes in at third for the New Orleans Saints. AFC East and New England Patriot standout, Deatrich Wise is slotted in fourth. Tampa Bay linebacker, Kendall Beckwith rounds out the top five with a season grade of 87.0.
Here is Pro Football Focus‘ write-up of Tre’Davious White:
"“Elite Stat: White’s 5.1 run stop percentage ranks seventh among all cornerbacks.”"
"“White has shown through two weeks that he’s capable of not just good coverage, but good all-around play. Buffalo’s first round pick is one of five cornerbacks to rank within the top-16 in both coverage grade and run defense grade. He’s also shown a penchant for getting his hands on the football as he’s one of the 22 cornerbacks who have multiple pass breakups after two games.”"
These next two weeks will either boost Tre’Davious White to the top or send him plunging towards last. In week 3 he will have the responsibility of locking down the explosive Denver Broncos’ receiving corps. Demaryius Thomas is one of the best receivers in the past five years, and Emmanuel Sanders can kill you with a different skill set than Thomas.
In week 4 the Buffalo Bills play the Atlanta Falcons. The Bills will play all 4 teams in the last two Super Bowls, not to mention the New England Patriots twice.
The Bills may choose to double team Julio Jones with a corner and a safety and leave White on Sanu or Gabriel, but he will be forced to follow Jones at some points. All of Buffalo Bill have their eyes on that match-up come Sunday
A.J. Green in week 5, and Mike Evans in week 6. It may be a while before Tre’Davious White sees an easy match-up again.
