Buffalo Bills: Top PFF grades from BUF @ CAR

Pro Football Focus has released their player grades and game analysis after the Buffalo Bills fell to the Carolina Panthers 9-3.

Pro Football Focus does a great job deciphering which Buffalo Bills’ players played well in their game against the Carolina Panthers. Pro Football Focus does a good job of figuring that out with their individual player grades for every game.

The top grade Buffalo Bills player? Edge defender, Jerry Hughes. The defensive leader received an 84.7 game grade for his play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Here is Pro Football Focus‘ write-up for Jerry Hughes:

"“Hughes was the best Buffalo pass-rusher today while being among the best run defenders as well. The Bills edge rusher finished the day with five defensive stops, which led Buffalo’s defense. Furthermore, Hughes had a successful day against Carolina LT Matt Kalil as he recorded two sacks and four quarterback hurries on 28 pass rushing snaps.”"

In a game where there were not many high game grades from Buffalo Bills’ players; it was nice to see Jerry Hughes standout. The defense played very well, holding the Carolina Panthers to just nine points on the day, but the offense just was not producing.

EDGE Jerry Hughes, 84.7 overall grade

S Jordan Poyer, 83.5 overall grade

QB Tyrod Taylor, 80.1 overall grade

DI Kyle Williams, 78.5 overall grade

G Richie Incognito, 78.1 overall grade

Jordan Poyer earned a 90.7 game grade for his play against the New York Jets last week, so it is no shock that he made an appearance on this list for the second straight week. There are no surprises on this list this week with the long time Bills’ veterans having high game grades. One player, who is not on this list? LeSean McCoy. McCoy had an abysmal day on the ground earning a 46.1 game grade.

"“McCoy created some huge plays for the Bills offense last week, but he was bottled up against the Panthers this week. His offensive line didn’t give him much room to work with, and McCoy actually finished the game with more yards after contact (20) than total rushing yards (9). He was the Bills most targeted receiver with seven targets, but managed just 33 yards on his six receptions”"

Four of the five highest game grades from the Carolina Panthers came from the defensive side of the football to no surprise. Veteran Linebacker, Thomas Davis earned a 91.6 game grade from shutting down the Buffalo Bills’ offense on Sunday.
