Buffalo Bills vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Fantasy Football Advice
By Dennis Moody
Need some fantasy advice for the Buffalo Bills matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers today? You’re in luck, read on.
The Buffalo Bills will face-off against the Pittsburgh Steelers today in Buffalo. They are currently removing a few inches of snow off the field with light snow expected during the game which could add up to 2-3 inches by the end. It will be a battle in Orchard Park with playoff implications for both of these teams that have plenty of experience playing in cold weather games. That should tilt both offenses slightly towards the run and this game features two of the best backs in the league so they have big potential today. Let’s take at some of the players who could have good or bad games by position.
Quarterbacks
Tyrod Taylor – 17th best average points per game in standard yahoo leagues aided by his 469 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. He’s not a good start because he’s only thrown for over 200 yards in four games this season.
Ben Roethlisberger – Big Ben is the 7th best quarterback in average points per game and he thrives in big games and the cold weather. He’s not having his best year but his 25 touchdowns to only eight inceptions have been the difference. He’s definitely worth a start against Buffalo who has struggled in times at coverage this season.
Running Backs
LeSean McCoy – Has the six most yards in the league despite missing a game and dealing with a hamstring and thumb injury this season. He’s just one touchdown shy of having his second double-digit rushing touchdown total in his career. He’s a must start but Buffalo’s offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn said that Mike Gillislee will continue to get carries in the red zone which is alarming for McCoy owners.

Mike Gillislee – Has touchdowns in five of the last seven games. He’s been given a larger role in the Bills offense over the last few weeks but still only has two games with double-digit carries. You’re taking a gamble if you start Gillislee hoping for a touchdown.
Le’Veon Bell – He’s one of the best running backs in the league and is a threat in both the passing game and the rushing attack. He’s a must start against Buffalo defense which has given up the 26th most rushing yards in the league.
Wide Receivers
Sammy Watkins – Watkins is still not 100 percent and probably won’t be at any point this year. He’s worth a start though as Buffalo’s most talented receiver. Last week he showed he can still be a factor in the deep game with a 62-yard reception.
Robert Woods – He’s expected to play despite being listed as questionable and being limited in practice during the week with a sprained left knee. If he plays it will be the first time he’ll be on the field with Watkins since Week 2. Woods is not a very good start this week based on the weather, him coming off an injury and the Bills struggling passing attack.
Antonio Brown – I don’t think you need me to tell you to start Antonio Brown who’s been one of the best wide receivers in the league for several years. A little snowfall shouldn’t hold him back from punishing a Bills secondary which has let up some big plays this year due to poor execution and communication at times. Look for Brown to have a big day against Buffalo. The rest of the Bills and Steelers wide receivers and tight ends have not been much of a factor this year and are not worth a start.
Defense
Buffalo – Buffalo’s defense has dropped to 11th in average fantasy points per game. They have given up over 21 points in five of their last six games. They still manage to get points with sacks and turnovers but a talented Pittsburgh offense this week they are not a great start.
Pittsburgh – The 16th best defense in average fantasy points per game. Pittsburgh gives up the six least rushing yards per game but they match up against a Buffalo offense which is the tops in the league with 161.9 rushing yards per game. Despite Buffalo’s struggles at passing they’ve still managed to put up a decent amount of points this year. I wouldn’t start Pittsburgh’s defense either.
