The Buffalo Bills announced on Friday that LeSean McCoy had injured his hand during practice. His status for Sunday is questionable at this moment.

So far this season, we have seen a much more productive and efficient LeSean McCoy. However, we might have to do without him on Sunday after reports of an injury endured at practice.

The Buffalo Bills will be traveling to Los Angeles for a game against the Rams on Sunday at 4:25 PM and just received news that McCoy injured his hand at practice on Friday. As of right now, his status for the game on Sunday is questionable.

We all hope this doesn’t cause a setback for the running back because we will definitely need him against a stingy Rams’ defense.

In four games this season, McCoy has a total of 297 yards and 3 touchdowns on 67 rushing attempts — only surpassing 100 yards in one game vs. the Cardinals. He has also been a big target in the passing game, with 17 receptions, 87 yards and one touchdown on 19 targets. His receptions total and targets total are second on the team.

If the Bills are forced to do without McCoy vs. the Rams on Sunday, we can expect a big role from Mike Gillislee and possibly even a lot of usage for Reggie Bush. Gillislee is the team’s second leading running back with 50 yards on 9 attempts, but he has also been a target in the passing game with 3 receptions, 27 yards and one touchdown.

Bush has yet to show what he can do for this team, but Rex Ryan had said it’s because he hasn’t been a part of their gameplan. If McCoy sits, expect him to be a part of their gameplan.

This injury also raises the question if they should make a big push to re-sign Karlos Williams, who the team released in August. After a shaky offseason that included showing up to camp overweight and being suspended for first four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, the team figured he was too much of a liability.

However, there have been reports of the Bills and Williams talking again — although some of those reports have been flushed out.

In my opinion, if Williams is ready to make the commitment to the NFL and an NFL team, then we need to hurry up and get him back on this team. Not just because injuries can happen at any time, but also because he is simply a great running back and can compliment McCoy perfectly — as proven last season.

Right now, let’s just all hold our breaths and pray that McCoy can play on Sunday. If not, at least we know how reliable Gillislee is. Plus, maybe this is the chance Bush needs to prove his wealth to this team.

UPDATE: After practice on Friday, LeSean McCoy appeared on ESPN’s SportsCenter and guaranteed that he will play on Sunday. This was a big sigh of relief for Bills’ fans.
